Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the battlefield ethic of steadfast protection of a pivotal leader and the collective morale expressed through battle-cries, while also underscoring how quickly loyalty in war culminates in overwhelming, destructive violence.

Sañjaya reports that the Kaurava warriors concentrate on guarding Bhīṣma and roar in encouragement; simultaneously, a fierce, chaotic battle erupts between Duryodhana’s forces and their opponents.
