Adhyāya 104 — Śikhaṇḍin-puraskāraḥ (Śikhaṇḍin as Vanguard) and Bhīṣma’s Counter-Advance
बद्दीस्तथान्या मायाश्ष प्रयुक्तास्तेन रक्षसा
baddhīs tathānyā māyāś ca prayuktās tena rakṣasā
اُس راکشس نے اور بھی بہت سے بندھن اور مایاوی تدبیریں آزمائیں۔
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical contrast between straightforward valor and the use of deceitful, binding tricks (māyā). It implicitly warns that victory sought through deception and coercive snares aligns with adharma rather than righteous conduct.
Sañjaya reports that a rākṣasa figure is deploying various snares and illusory tactics—suggesting a moment in the battle narrative where supernatural or deceptive means are being used to hinder opponents.
