वैशम्पायन उवाच
Dharma is presented as a practical spiritual discipline (mahāyoga) grounded in specific virtues: generosity, compassion to all beings, self-restraint (brahmacarya), truthfulness, mercy, steadfast resolve, and forgiveness. These are described as the timeless foundations of righteous life.
Vaiśampāyana, in the Ashvamedhika Parva context, summarizes the ethical essentials that constitute true dharma and yogic attainment, reinforcing them by citing traditional memory that earlier royal figures—such as Viśvāmitra—reached success/siddhi through these virtues.
