Subhadrā’s Petition to Kṛṣṇa for the Revival of Parīkṣit
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
dharmaputraṃ ca bhīmaṃ ca phālgunaṃ nakulaṃ tathā |
sahadevaṃ ca durdharṣa sarvān nas trātum arhasi ||
The verse frames protection as a moral obligation: the addressed hero is ‘worthy’ and therefore duty-bound (arhasi) to rescue others in danger, especially righteous leaders like Dharmaputra. Capability is presented as responsibility.
In a moment of peril, the speaker appeals to an ‘invincible’ warrior to safeguard all the Pāṇḍava brothers—Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīma, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva—emphasizing urgent collective rescue.
