Mokṣa-dharma Yoga-Upadeśa: Equanimity, Sense-Restraint, and Vision of the Ātman (आत्मदर्शन-योगोपदेशः)
ataḥ paraṁ pravakṣyāmi yogaśāstram anuttamam | yuñjantaḥ siddham ātmānaṁ yathā paśyanti yoginaḥ ||
The speaker announces an exposition of the supreme yogaśāstra, stressing that yoga is a practical discipline leading to direct realization of the ātman. The goal is not mere theory but ‘seeing’—immediate insight into the Self through sustained practice.
A brāhmaṇa speaker transitions into a formal instruction section, introducing an authoritative teaching on yoga. The verse functions as a preface: it signals that what follows will explain the method by which yogins, through disciplined engagement, attain Self-realization.
