तेषु मर्मसु भिन्नेषु ततः स समुदीरयन्‌ । आविश्य हृदयं जन्तो: सत्त्वं चाशु रुणद्धि वै,उन मर्मस्थानों (संधियों)-के विलग होनेपर वायु ऊपरको उठती हुई प्राणीके हृदयमें प्रविष्ट हो शीघ्र ही उसकी बुद्धिको अवरुद्ध कर लेती है

teṣu marmasu bhinneṣu tataḥ sa samudīrayan | āviśya hṛdayaṃ jantoḥ sattvaṃ cāśu ruṇaddhi vai ||

جب وہ مَرم-স্থান ٹوٹ پھوٹ جائیں تو وायु بے قرار ہو کر اوپر اٹھتی ہے، جاندار کے دل میں گھس جاتی ہے اور فوراً اس کے سَتّو—یعنی عقل کی ٹھہراؤ، ضبط اور تمیز—کو روک دیتی ہے۔
