वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage highlights dharmic discipline in an āśrama setting: even great sages act in orderly fashion, seeking and receiving the elder’s permission (Vyāsa) before taking their places—modeling humility, respect for spiritual hierarchy, and communal decorum.
After the events surrounding Vidura’s departure from the body (noted as the chapter’s theme), the assembled Brahmin sages, with Vyāsa’s consent, sit on the prepared seats spread around, signaling a formal continuation or conclusion of the forest-assembly proceedings.
