The verse frames Vidura’s counsel as authoritative guidance for Yudhiṣṭhira: ethical instruction should be listened to carefully, especially when one is moving from royal responsibility toward renunciation and must stabilize the mind through dharma.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira listens to Vidura’s words. It is a transition moment: after receiving counsel, the story is poised to show Yudhiṣṭhira’s response and the next steps in the Pāṇḍavas’ forest-bound course.
