Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue
गणित: पज्चवीर्यश्रु आदित्यो रश्मिवांस्तथा । सप्तकृत् सोमवर्चाश्च विश्वकृत् कविरेव च
gaṇitaḥ pañcavīryaśru ādityo raśmivāṁs tathā | saptakṛt somavarcāś ca viśvakṛt kavir eva ca ||
بھیشم نے کہا—وہ گَṇِت کہلاتا ہے؛ وہ پنچویریَشرو بھی ہے؛ وہ آدِتیہ، درخشاں، اور رَشمیوان—‘شعاعوں سے آراستہ’ ہے۔ وہ سَپتکرت، سَومَوَرچا، وِشوَکرت—‘سب کا بنانے والا’—اور کَوی—‘دانش مند درشن کرنے والا’—بھی کہلاتا ہے۔
भीष्म उवाच
The verse models devotional and ethical remembrance through nāma-saṅkīrtana: enumerating divine epithets that highlight radiance, creative power, and wisdom, encouraging reverence for the cosmic source that upholds order (dharma).
In Bhīṣma’s instruction, he recites a sequence of honorific names/epithets—solar, lunar, creative, and sage-like—functioning as a litany of praise within his broader discourse on righteous conduct and sacred observances.
