Austerity, regulated fasting, residual-eating, and hospitality

ये च भाष्यविद: केचिद्‌ ये च व्याकरणे रता: । अधीयते पुराण ये धर्मशास्त्राण्यथापि च

bhīṣma uvāca | ye ca bhāṣyavidaḥ kecid ye ca vyākaraṇe ratāḥ | adhīyate purāṇe ye dharmaśāstrāṇy athāpi ca ||

بھیشم نے کہا: جو بعض برہمن تفسیری شروح (بھاشیہ) کے ماہر ہیں، جو نحو (ویَاکرن) میں مشغول ہیں، اور جو پرانوں نیز دھرم شاستروں کا مطالعہ کرتے ہیں—ایسے علم و حسنِ کردار سے آراستہ برہمن محض اپنی موجودگی سے بھی دوسروں کو پاکیزگی بخشتے ہیں۔
