Educational Q&A

Gold-giving (suvarṇa-dāna), when performed by one who understands dharma, is praised as an all-encompassing offering—symbolically equivalent to giving to all the deities, because it supports sacred order through generous, righteous giving.

Vasiṣṭha is instructing about the religious-ethical value of dāna (charitable gifting). He asserts, as a received tradition, that donating gold is regarded as a comprehensive divine offering, emphasizing the merit and breadth of such generosity.
