Go-dāna-stuti and Ghṛta-Japa
Praise of cow-gift and ghee-centered recitation
एवमेतान् गुणान् विद्याद् गवादीनां यथाक्रमम् । गोप्रदाता समाप्रोति समस्तानष्टमे क्रमे,“इनके दानका फल क्रमश: इस प्रकार है--गौका मूल्य देनेवाला छत्तीस हजार वर्षोतक, गौकी जगह वस्त्र दान करनेवाला आठ हजार वर्षोतक तथा गौके स्थानमें सुवर्ण देनेवाला पुरुष बीस हजार वर्षोतक परलोकमें सुख भोगता है। इस प्रकार गौओंके निष्क्रय दानका क्रमश: फल बताया गया है। इसे अच्छी तरह जान लेना चाहिये। साक्षात् गौका दान लेकर जब ब्राह्मण अपने घरकी ओर जाने लगता है, उस समय उसके आठ पग जाते-जाते ही दाताको अपने दानका फल मिल जाता है
Bhīṣma uvāca: evam etān guṇān vidyād gavādīnāṁ yathākramam | gopradātā samāpnoti samastān aṣṭame krame ||
یوں گایوں اور متعلقہ عطیات کے یہ اوصاف و ثمرات ترتیب وار جاننے چاہییں۔ گائے کا داتا پورا اجر پاتا ہے، اور وہ اجر آٹھویں قدم پر (جب برہمن دान لے کر روانہ ہوتا ہے) مؤثر ہو جاتا ہے۔
