The verse is a colophon concluding a chapter that teaches the religious and ethical value (māhātmya) of donating drinking water—presenting water-giving as a significant form of dāna within dharma.
This line formally closes the sixty-seventh chapter within the Anuśāsana Parva’s charity-discourse, signaling the end of Bhīṣma’s instruction on the merits of providing potable water as a gift.
