Brāhmaṇa-pūjā, Haviḥ-dāna, and the Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī Saṃvāda
Chapter 34
mātāpitrorguruṣu ca samyag vartanti ye sadā | yathā tvaṃ vṛṣṇiśārdūlety uktvaiva virarāma saḥ ||
Steady, righteous conduct toward one’s parents and one’s teachers is a central dharmic duty; such integrity becomes a means to overcome संकट (danger, distress) and pass safely through adversity.
Nārada addresses a prominent Vṛṣṇi hero with an honorific epithet (“tiger among the Vṛṣṇis”), praises the model of proper conduct toward parents and gurus, states its protective power in crises, and then concludes his speech by falling silent.
