ऊर्जावतीं महापुण्यां मधुमतीं त्रिवर्त्मगाम्‌ । त्रिलोकगोफ्तीं ये गड्डां संश्रितास्‍्ते दिवं गता:

Transliteration

Ūrjāvatīṁ mahāpuṇyāṁ madhumatīṁ trivartmagām | Trilokagoptīṁ ye Gaṅgāṁ saṁśritās te divaṁ gatāḥ ||

Translation

سِدّھ نے کہا—گنگا قوتِ روحانی سے بھرپور، نہایت پُنیہ مئی اور شیریں آب والی ہے؛ وہ زمین، آسمان اور پاتال—تینوں راہوں میں گامزن رہ کر تینوں لوکوں کی نگہبان ہے۔ جو گنگا کی پناہ لیتے ہیں وہ سُوَرگ کو پہنچتے ہیں۔
