Educational Q&A

The verse highlights tapas as a dharmic force: disciplined spiritual practice by sages possesses real efficacy (prabhāva) that can bring clarity and auspiciousness, inspiring reverence and ethical orientation in observers.

As the sages’ austerities manifest, the quarters of space appear illuminated. Witnessing this extraordinary sign, the Pāṇḍavas are filled with profound astonishment, recognizing the sages’ spiritual potency.
