The verse teaches that sincere pilgrimage and proper ritual bathing at recognized tīrthas and sages’ hermitages function as means of purification, symbolizing ethical renewal and release from accumulated pāpa.
A speaker enumerates the merits of specific sacred sites: by performing ablution at Ujjānaka and bathing at the hermitages of Ārtiṣeṇa and Piḍā, one attains freedom from sins—part of a broader tīrtha-māhātmya (praise of pilgrimage places) section.
