Anuśāsana-parva 17
यदा तेनाभ्यनुज्ञात: स्तुतो वै स तदा मया । अनादिनिधनस्याहं जगद्योनेर्महात्मन:,शृणु नाम्नां च यं कृष्ण यदुक्तं पद्मययोनिना । श्रीकृष्ण! जो वरदायक, वरेण्य (सर्वश्रेष्ठ), विश्वरूप और बुद्धिमान् हैं, उन भगवान् शिवका पद्ययोनि ब्रह्माजीके द्वारा वर्णित नाम-संग्रह श्रवण करो ।।
vāyudeva uvāca | yadā tenābhyanujñātaḥ stuto vai sa tadā mayā | anādinidhanasyāhaṃ jagadyoner mahātmanaḥ, śṛṇu nāmnāṃ ca yaṃ kṛṣṇa yaduktaṃ padmayoninā | śrīkṛṣṇa! yo varadāyakaḥ, vareṇyaḥ (sarvaśreṣṭhaḥ), viśvarūpaḥ ca buddhimān, tādṛśasya bhagavataḥ śivasya padmayoni-brahmaṇā varṇitaṃ nāma-saṅgrahaṃ śṛṇu || daśanāma-sahasrāṇi yānyāha prapitāmahaḥ |
جب مجھے اُس کی اجازت حاصل ہوئی تو میں نے اسی وقت اُس کی ثنا کی۔ اب، اے کرشن، سنو—میں اُس عظیمُ الروح، جَگَت کے سرچشمہ، بے آغاز و بے انجام پروردگار کے ناموں کا مجموعہ بیان کروں گا، جیسا کہ پدم یونی برہما نے کہا تھا۔ اے شری کرشن، بر عطا کرنے والے، برگزیدہ، کائناتی صورت والے اور نہایت دانا بھگوان شِو کے ناموں کا یہ مجموعہ سنو—یہ وہ دس ہزار ناموں کے مجموعے ہیں جنہیں پرپِتامہ (برہما) نے بیان کیا تھا۔
