Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament
tac chrutvā vismayaṁ jagmur dhṛtarāṣṭrādayo nṛpāḥ | sampūjya manasā kṛṣṇaṁ sarve prāñjalayo 'bhavan |
True moral and spiritual authority evokes humility and reverence even in powerful rulers; the verse highlights inner worship (manasā sampūjya) expressed outwardly through respectful conduct (prāñjalayaḥ).
After hearing Bhīṣma’s words (implied by context), Dhṛtarāṣṭra and the assembled kings are struck with wonder and respond by mentally honoring Kṛṣṇa and standing with folded hands in reverence.
