Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament (भीष्मस्य योगयुक्त्या देहत्यागः, पितृमेधः, गङ्गाविलापः)
ध्रुवं श्रेयः परं तात भविष्यति तवोत्तमम् | यस्य ते पुरुषव्याप्र: सखा चायं जनार्दन:,तात! तुम्हारा तो अवश्य ही परम उत्तम कल्याण होगा; क्योंकि ये पुरुषसिंह जनार्दन तुम्हारे मित्र हैं
dhruvaṁ śreyaḥ paraṁ tāta bhaviṣyati tavottamam | yasya te puruṣavyāghraḥ sakhā cāyaṁ janārdanaḥ ||
اے عزیز فرزند! تیرا اعلیٰ ترین اور یقینی بھلا ضرور ہوگا، کیونکہ مردوں میں شیر جناردن تیرا دوست ہے۔
भीष्म उवाच
True welfare (śreyas) becomes certain when one is aligned with dharma and supported by divine wisdom; Bhishma underscores that Krishna’s friendship is a guarantee of the listener’s highest good.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma continues instructing and consoling the listener; here he offers reassurance that the listener’s supreme good is assured because Krishna (Janardana), famed for protecting and guiding the righteous, stands as his friend.
