चिराभिलषितं किंचित्फलमप्राप्तमेव ते । कृतमन्यैरपह्तं तेनासि हरिण: कृश:

Transliteration

cirābhilaṣitaṃ kiñcit phalam aprāptam eva te | kṛtam anyair apahṛtaṃ tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

Translation

برہمن نے کہا: جس پھل کی تم مدتِ دراز سے آرزو رکھتے تھے، وہ تمہیں ملنا تھا، مگر تمہیں حاصل نہ ہوا؛ اور جو کچھ تم نے کر کے دکھایا تھا، اسے دوسروں نے چھین لیا۔ اسی لیے، اے ہرن، ناکامی اور نقصان نے تمہاری تابناکی ماند کر دی ہے اور تم دبلا ہوتے جا رہے ہو۔
