Adhyāya 122 — Śruta-vṛtta-yukta Brāhmaṇa and the Ethics of Dāna
Maitreya–Vyāsa Saṃvāda
ahaṃ tvāṃ darśanād eva tārayāmi tapobalāt | tapobalād dhi balavad balam anyajan na vidyate ||
The verse teaches that tapas—disciplined spiritual effort and ascetic merit—constitutes the highest form of power, surpassing worldly force, and can become a means of protection and deliverance.
Vyāsa assures the listener that he can rescue them through the potency of his tapas, even by mere sight, emphasizing the extraordinary efficacy of spiritual merit within the dharmic worldview.
