Educational Q&A

Sustained ritual discipline (daily fire-offerings), control of speech, and strict brahmacarya—supported by renunciation of sensual/ritual luxuries—are presented as powerful dharmic practices that generate merit leading to exalted heavenly attainments (Marut-world and Indra’s world).

In Bhishma’s instruction on dharma, he describes a specific year-long regimen of sacrifice and self-control and states its फल (result): the practitioner gains access to the celestial realms associated with the Maruts and Indra.
