सौतिर्वाच शणु ब्रह्मन्‌ यथापृच्छन्मन्त्रिणो नृपतिस्तदा । यथा चाख्यातवन्तस्ते निधनं तत्‌ परीक्षित:

سوتی نے کہا—“اے برہمن! سنو۔ اُس وقت نَرپتی نے وزیروں سے جیسا پوچھا تھا، اور انہوں نے پریکشِت کی موت کے بارے میں جیسا بیان کیا تھا—وہ سب میں سناتا ہوں۔”
