atyantaghoraṃ bhagavan narasiṃha vapustava upasaṃhara viśvātmaṃs tvameva mama saṃnidhau
A devotee/deva addressing Narasiṃha within Sūta’s narration (internal dialogue)
It highlights śānti and surrender: the devotee seeks the calming (upasaṃhāra) of a fierce manifestation and affirms the Lord as Viśvātman, aligning Linga worship with inner presence and pacification of fear.
By using the term Viśvātman, it points to the Pati-principle as the indwelling Universal Self—present “in my vicinity,” i.e., immediately accessible as the inner ruler beyond terrifying appearances.
A śānti-oriented stotra-prayoga: calming intense divine energy through prayer and recognition of the inner Lord—consistent with Pāśupata discipline of transforming bhaya (fear) into śaraṇāgati (refuge).
