koṭikoṭisahasrāṇi aharbhūtāni yāni vai vārāhakalpa samatītāni kalpānāṃ tāvaccheṣāḥ pare tu ye yastvayaṃ vartate kalpo vārāhastaṃ nibodhata
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It situates Linga worship within vast cosmic time, implying that the Linga (as the sign of Pati—Shiva beyond time) is the stable refuge for the pashu (soul) across endlessly recurring kalpas.
By emphasizing immeasurable kalpas and the present kalpa’s place among them, the verse points to Shiva-tattva as transcendent to temporal cycles—Pati who remains unchanged while creation and dissolution recur.
No specific rite is prescribed here; the takeaway is contemplative—Pashupata-oriented reflection on time (kāla) and impermanence to intensify devotion and surrender to Pati (Shiva) symbolized by the Linga.
