suvṛttaṃ maṇḍalaṃ divyaṃ sarvakāmaphalapradam vedikā dviguṇā tasya samā vā sarvasaṃmatā
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-puja procedure as received in the Linga Purana tradition)
It sets the sacred geometry for the worship-space: a flawless circular maṇḍala and a properly proportioned vedikā, establishing ritual order (vidhi) so the devotee’s offerings become efficacious in Shiva’s linga-puja.
By emphasizing the ‘divine’ mandala that yields all fruits, the verse points to Shiva as Pati—the supreme bestower—who, when approached through correct vidhi and bhakti, grants both worldly aims and the conditions that lead the pashu (soul) toward release from pasha (bondage).
Ritual practice: constructing the maṇḍala and sizing the vedikā (altar) correctly as part of Shiva-puja. Yogically, it supports disciplined worship (niyama) that steadies the mind and aligns the practitioner with Pashupata-oriented observance.
