TS 2.6 functions as a procedural hinge in the Darśa–Paurṇamāsa cycle, moving from the protective and cosmologically-indexed preliminaries (prayājas) into the ocular/royal framing of the rite (ājyabhāgas as the ‘eyes’ of yajña), then into the spatialization of sacrifice through vedi-geometry and boundary-making. The prapāṭhaka integrates bandhu logic: seasons and worlds are ‘won’ by correctly sequenced offerings; the yajña is defended by mantra-armor and by correct separations (nirbhajana) of hostile forces from the measured ritual ground. It also encodes Adhvaryu risk-management: preventing ritual ‘cuts’ (chinna) by correct re-linking actions, and ensuring closure through svishṭakṛt and samyoḥ formulas. The narrative arthavādas (Agni’s flight, Matsya, Pūṣan’s tooth, Bṛhaspati’s mantra) justify precise handling, acceptance, and purification steps, aligning liturgical correctness with social order (brahman–kṣatra), prosperity, and safe passage to the desired loka.

Keith-style rendering (approx.): “He says thus: ‘Progeny indeed is the further (result); the worship of the gods; cattle; again the making of the oblation; the world of heaven; the divine abode. Thou art this; thou art this.’ Thus he invokes the dear abode of the sacrifice. ‘All that is dear to him has been invoked,’ he says; he thereby invokes freedom from alarm.”
