TS 2.2 functions as a catalogued ritual-grammar for Kāmya-Iṣṭis, embedding short mythic etiologies (arthavāda) into actionable nirvapana prescriptions. Across its anuvākas, the text maps desired outcomes—progeny, victory, social cohesion, restoration of ritual capacity, and luminous prestige—onto deity-pairs and offering-forms (puroḍāśa/carū) with specified kapāla counts. This creates a ‘ritual geometry’ where meter-number correspondences (gāyatrī/triṣṭubh/jagatī ↔ 8/11/12) and deity-functions (Agni as mediator, Indra as indriya/vīrya, Viṣṇu as yajña, Soma-Rudra as radiance/constraint) become interoperable modules. In the Śrauta calendar, these units are deployed as corrective or augmentative overlays upon standard Haviryajña cycles (e.g., Darśa-Paurṇamāsa) and as situational rites for conflict, travel, or communal alignment. The prapāṭhaka thus serves as an Adhvaryu-facing decision-tree: select aim → select deity-form → execute nirvapana with appropriate sequencing, recitations, and stabilizing bandhu logic.
Mantra 1
Mantra 2
He thereby bestows on him vigour and prosperity; he becomes possessed of prosperity. Let him offer for Indra Gharma-vat an eleven-potshard cake, if he desires sacred lustre; for Gharma is sacred lustre. He approaches Indra as Gharma-vat with his own due portion; thus he places sacred lustre in him; he becomes possessed of sacred lustre. Let him offer for Indra Arka-vat an eleven-potshard cake, if he desires food; for Arka is the food of the gods. He approaches Indra as Arka-vat with his own due portion.
Mantra 3
He approaches; he thereby bestows food upon him; he becomes an eater of food. For Indra Gharma-possessing he should prepare a cake on eleven potsherds; for Indra the powerful, for Indra the radiant—(he does so) desiring prosperity. In that he prepares (it) for Indra Gharma-possessing, he thereby makes for him a head; in that (he prepares it) for Indra the powerful, he thereby makes for him a self; in that (he prepares it) for Indra the radiant, he becomes established in prosperity and in food; he indeed becomes (so)—for Indra.
Mantra 4
A cake on eleven potsherds should he offer to the ‘Releaser from distress’ if one be seized by evil; for evil is distress. To Indra, the Releaser from distress, he resorts with his own due portion; he releases him from evil, from distress. A cake on eleven potsherds should he offer to Indra the ‘Repeller of hostility’ if hostilities press upon him, or if kingdoms converge against him. To Indra, the Repeller of hostility, he resorts with his own due portion; he (thereby) wards off hostilities from us.
Mantra 5
He wards off. For Indra the protector he should prepare a cake on eleven potsherds, (whether he be) bound or hemmed in; he hastens to Indra the protector with his own allotted share; he indeed protects him. For Indra Arkāsvameddhavat he should prepare a cake on eleven potsherds—him to whom the great sacrifice would not draw near. These two are, in truth, the final body of the great sacrifice, namely Arkā and Svameddha. He hastens to Indra Arkāsvameddhavat with his own allotted share; he indeed causes the great sacrifice at the end to shift toward him; the great sacrifice inclines toward him.
