Humility, Surrender, and the Power of the Name
अच्छिन्नभक्तस्य हि मे मुकुन्द सदा भक्तिं देहि पादारविन्दे / सदा तदेवास्तु न किञ्चिदन्यद्यत्र त्वमासीः पुरुषे देवदेव
acchinnabhaktasya hi me mukunda sadā bhaktiṃ dehi pādāravinde / sadā tadevāstu na kiñcidanyadyatra tvamāsīḥ puruṣe devadeva
Garuda (Vinata-putra), praying to Lord Vishnu (Mukunda)
Concept: Ananya-bhakti (exclusive devotion) and nitya-sevā at the Lord’s feet as the highest aspiration.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara as the supreme puruṣa; devotion as the direct means to abiding in Him (mad-āśraya).
Application: Daily prayer of exclusivity: reduce competing desires; cultivate constant remembrance and service-orientation in all activities.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.6.18-20 (sarva-kriyā-samarpaṇa, viṣṇu-prītyartha-vrata)
This verse highlights that uninterrupted devotion to Vishnu is itself the highest aim, because it keeps the mind fixed on the Lord and aligns the seeker with moksha-oriented remembrance rather than worldly alternatives.
By asking only for devotion at the Lord’s lotus feet, the verse points to liberation through sustained God-remembrance; the soul’s safe passage is framed as dependence on the indwelling Supreme Person rather than on external attainments.
Prioritize daily practices that maintain continuity—nama-japa, prayer, and ethical living—so devotion remains steady, especially during illness, grief, or end-of-life situations.
