Ahaṅkāra-Tripartition and the Rise of Indriyas, Devatās, and Cosmic Administrators
नाम चतुर्थो ऽध्यायः एतादृशे महत्तत्त्वे लक्ष्म्या सह हरिः स्वयम् / प्रविवेश महाभाग क्षोभयामास वै हरिः
nāma caturtho 'dhyāyaḥ etādṛśe mahattattve lakṣmyā saha hariḥ svayam / praviveśa mahābhāga kṣobhayāmāsa vai hariḥ
“چوتھا باب ختم ہوا۔” پھر، اے نیک بخت، لکشمی کے ساتھ خود ہری اس مہتَتّو میں داخل ہوئے؛ اور ہری ہی نے اسے جنبش دے کر فعّال کیا۔
Lord Vishnu (Hari) addressing Garuda (Mahābhāga)
Concept: Hari as the conscious initiator who ‘agitates’ Mahat; Lakṣmī as inseparable śakti; creation proceeds by divine presence and activation.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara as nimitta-kāraṇa (efficient cause) and śakti-sahita; the Lord’s immanence within cosmic principles without being limited by them.
Application: Contemplate the world as pervaded and activated by the Divine; integrate devotion with cosmological understanding—see Lakṣmī-Hari as unity of consciousness and power in one’s life and work.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: metaphysical principle
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.5.2-3 (subsequent emergence of ahaṃtattva and guṇa proportions)
This verse presents Mahat-tattva as the great cosmic principle that becomes active when Hari stirs it, indicating the start of manifestation from a subtle, unexpressed state.
Indirectly: by grounding the soul’s journey in a larger metaphysical framework—creation begins with cosmic principles being activated by Hari, within which individual beings and their subtle bodies later operate.
It encourages seeing life events within a dharmic cosmic order—cultivating devotion and ethical living by remembering that the universe functions through divine governance, not mere randomness.
