Vīrya, Māyā/Prakṛti, Śrī’s Inseparability, Paramāṇu, and Hari’s Infinitude
ato lakṣmyā viyogastu śaṅkanīyaḥ kathañcana / nārāyaṇo nāma hariḥ svatantraḥ śriyā vinā nāsti kadāpi tārkṣya / harermukundasya padāravinde śuśrūṣamāṇā paramādareṇa
Lord Vishnu (Narayana) speaking to Garuda (Tarkshya/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Śrī (Lakṣmī) is eternally inseparable from Nārāyaṇa; her service at His feet models supreme reverence.
Vedantic Theme: Śakti-śaktimān abheda (non-separation of power and possessor of power) within a theistic Vedānta frame.
Application: Cultivate unwavering confidence in Nārāyaṇa’s auspiciousness; adopt śrī-sevā-bhāva—humble, continuous service at the Lord’s feet in daily worship.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.3.25-28 (Śrī, māyā/prakṛti, vīryādhāna)
This verse teaches that Śrī (divine fortune and grace) is never absent from Nārāyaṇa; their inseparability is a theological foundation for understanding Viṣṇu’s completeness and the ever-present role of grace in liberation.
By calling Viṣṇu “Mukunda” and emphasizing service at his lotus-feet, the verse frames liberation as rooted in devotion and divine grace, aligning with the Purana’s recurring message that remembrance and surrender to Hari lead beyond fear and bondage.
Cultivate steady devotion—daily remembrance, prayer, and ethical living—seeing prosperity (śrī) as aligned with service to dharma and surrender at the “lotus-feet” of the Divine rather than as a separate, self-driven pursuit.
