FAQs

This verse states that Śrāddha done at certain sacred locations or under specific divine associations yields akṣaya fruit—merit that does not diminish—thus strengthening the benefit intended for the Pitṛs and the performer.

By highlighting particular tīrthas and divine contexts where Śrāddha becomes especially potent, the verse supports the Garuda Purana’s broader guidance that correct place, time, and rite (including piṇḍa offerings) enhance the post-death welfare of ancestors.

When performing Śrāddha or tarpaṇa, prioritize proper procedure and, when possible, perform it at reputable tīrthas/temples or on auspicious occasions connected with Sūrya/Chandra/Skanda, with sincere intention and charity, to maximize the intended spiritual benefit.
