FAQs

This verse places Vaitaraṇī as a key landmark in the post-death route and indicates that nearby sacred locations are linked with Śrāddha that benefits the Pitṛs.

It describes a specific northern region beyond Vaitaraṇī marked by a water-reservoir and symbolic footprints, presenting the afterlife landscape as structured and tied to ritual efficacy for elevating ancestors.

Perform Śrāddha with proper faith, cleanliness, and prescribed offerings (piṇḍa/tilodaka) to support ancestral well-being—emphasizing intention and correct ritual observance even if the exact sacred geography is not accessible.
