Garuda (Vinata-putra), offering a devotional salutation to Lord Vishnu (Vasudeva)
Concept: Vāsudeva as the unborn, deathless inner Witness seated in all hearts; surrender to Him removes fear and death-consciousness.
Vedantic Theme: Antaryāmin (inner ruler) and sākṣī-caitanya; Brahman/Īśvara as ajam-amṛtam, nityānanda-svarūpa; movement toward nondual recognition while retaining devotional address.
Application: Daily remembrance and bowing to the indwelling Witness; cultivate fearlessness by shifting identity from body-mind to sākṣī; japa of Vāsudeva with heart-centered contemplation.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana (Brahma-khanda) Vishnu-stava sections emphasizing antaryāmin and pāpa-kṣaya through stotra-japa (general parallel)
It affirms that the Lord is present within every heart as the all-knowing witness, grounding later teachings on karma, moral accountability, and inner conscience.
By praising the Lord as ‘unborn’ and ‘deathless’ and as the indweller, it points the listener toward the death-transcending reality behind the changing body—an anchor for teachings on death, rites, and the afterlife.
Practice daily remembrance/meditation on the indwelling witness (sarva-sākṣī) and live ethically as if seen from within—reducing fear and strengthening steadiness during illness, loss, and death-related rites.
