Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Dosha: Mixed

Concept: When opposing strength weakens and doṣa is depleted, fever becomes subtle and merges into rasa and related dhātus.

Vedantic Theme: Impermanence of bodily states; careful discrimination between gross symptoms and subtle residual imbalance.

Application: Do not assume cure at symptom-drop; support rasa/dhātu restoration with light diet, rest, and gradual strengthening to prevent relapse.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: karuna

FAQs

This verse frames recovery as the doṣa behind the illness becoming depleted, after which the subtle jvara withdraws and merges back into the body’s fluids/tissues rather than continuing to afflict the person.

It does not directly describe the soul’s post-death journey; instead, it uses precise Ayurvedic language to describe how a subtle disease process retreats and resolves within the bodily constituents.

Treat illness by addressing the underlying imbalance (doṣa) rather than only symptoms; when the root disturbance is reduced, the condition naturally subsides and reintegrates into normal bodily function.
