Uddhava Sent to Vraja: Consolation to Nanda-Yaśodā and the Gopīs’ Separation

Uddhava looked just like Nanda’s son Kṛṣṇa and gave pleasure to anyone who saw him. Thus although Nanda was absorbed in thoughts of separation from Kṛṣṇa, when he saw Uddhava coming toward his house, he became aware of external events and eagerly went out to embrace his exalted visitor.
This verse shows Nanda Mahārāja embracing and honoring Uddhava because he is Kṛṣṇa’s dear attendant—teaching that respect for Kṛṣṇa’s associates is a natural expression of bhakti.
Nanda was overjoyed to meet someone intimately connected with Kṛṣṇa; he welcomed Uddhava as Kṛṣṇa’s beloved messenger and thus offered him affectionate hospitality and reverence.
By learning to see devotees, sacred service, and even daily duties in connection with Kṛṣṇa—treating those who serve Him with respect and engaging one’s actions as an offering to Vāsudeva.
