Vena–Pṛthu Episode and the Milking of Earth
Sage Parāśara (narrating to Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Topic: Genealogy of Dhruva’s descendants and continuation of royal/progenitor lines.
Teaching: Genealogical
Quality: authoritative
Dharma Exemplar: Śiṣṭācāra (conduct of the righteous ‘śiṣṭa’) and purity of lineage (akalmaṣa).
Key Kings: Dhruva, Chiṣṭi, Bhavya, Śambhu, Succhāyā
Dhruva’s descendants anchor the early royal genealogies of the Sarga portion, showing how dharma and orderly kingship are transmitted through named lineages.
Parāśara presents a sequential father-to-son record—often adding spouses and moral qualifiers—so Maitreya can trace the unfolding of cosmic and social order through dynasties.
Even when Vishnu is not named in a verse, the Vishnu Purana frames dynastic continuity as part of Vishnu’s sustaining sovereignty—preserving order (dharma) through time and progeny.
