Suta Goswami (narrating the prescribed Śiva-pūjā procedure to the sages, as customary in Purāṇic discourse)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that outer ritual must be grounded in inner purification: honoring vidyā and the Guru first, then internalizing the mantras in the heart through nyāsa, aligning the devotee’s consciousness with Pati (Śiva) for grace and liberation.
It supports Saguna Śiva worship by prescribing preparatory rites and mantra-nyāsa that empower offerings (like arghya) and sanctify the worshipper’s inner seat, so Linga-pūjā becomes both external devotion and internal communion with Śiva.
A sequential hṛdaya-nyāsa of the śaṅkha and arghya-vessel mantras after vidyā-pūjā and guru-pūjā—i.e., meditative placement of mantra-śakti in the heart before proceeding with Śiva’s worship.
