Questions on Guruhood, Lineage, and Purificatory Discipline
Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasa Samhita teaching to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: "śiva ityacalasthitiḥ" (niścaya-bhāva: ‘Śiva’ as Guru and fulfillment in Him)
Role: teaching
It teaches that liberation-oriented meditation becomes stable when the devotee fixes an unwavering certainty that Shiva Himself is the supreme Guru and inner fulfillment, then withdraws the mind and abides in samādhi.
The verse supports Saguna upāsanā as a doorway to inner absorption: by holding Shiva (often adored as the Linga and as the Guru) as the sole reality, the mind becomes one-pointed and fit for samādhi.
Practice inward, distraction-free samādhi for a muhurta with firm Shiva-bhāvanā (“Shiva is the Guru”); it implies disciplined japa/dhyāna as a preparatory support, though the verse emphasizes mental withdrawal and steadiness.
