The son of Maruta, who was as eminent as the Wind-god, the crusher of enemies ascended the great mountain Mahendra, full of grassland inhabited by deer, thickly grown with various trees and creepers full of fragrant flowers and fruits, where roam lions and tigers and proud elephants, a place that echoes with sounds of intoxicated birds and waterfalls.
Dharma is purposeful action aligned with a righteous goal: Hanuman moves decisively to the proper place to fulfill his duty as Rāma’s envoy.
Hanuman climbs Mount Mahendra, described in rich natural detail, as the immediate prelude to his leap across the ocean toward Laṅkā.
Heroic readiness and focused resolve—he chooses the right terrain and advances without hesitation.
