उपदेशः / Sampati Instructed and the Search Mission Foretold
सा च कामैः प्रलोभ्यन्ती भक्ष्यै:भोज्यैश्च मैथिली।नभोक्ष्यति महाभागा दुःखे मग्ना यशस्विनी।।4.62.7।।
sā ca kāmaiḥ pralobhyantī bhakṣyair bhojyaiś ca maithilī | na bhokṣyati mahābhāgā duḥkhe magnā yaśasvinī ||
Kahit tuksuhin ng mga aliw, ng mga pagkain at masasarap na handog, ang marangal na Maithilī—kilala at lubog sa dalamhati—ay hindi kakain.
'Indeed in the Ikshvaku family there will be a king named Dasaratha. He will beget a brilliant son named Rama.
Dharma is inner integrity: Sītā refuses comfort that would compromise her resolve, remaining faithful to truth and righteousness despite coercion.
The prophecy describes Sītā’s conduct in captivity—she rejects inducements of pleasure and food, overwhelmed by grief yet unwavering.
Steadfastness (dhṛti) and fidelity (pativratā-bhāva): refusing temptation while holding to truth.
