Instructions for the Western Search Party
नादेयं च फलं तस्माद्देशात्किञ्चित् प्लवङ्गमैः।।4.42.22।।दुरासदा हि ते वीरा स्सत्त्ववन्तो महाबलाः।फलमूलानि ते तत्र रक्षन्ते भीमविक्रमाः।।4.42.23।।
nādēyaṃ ca phalaṃ tasmād deśāt kiñcit plavaṅgamaiḥ |
durāsadā hi te vīrāḥ sattvavanto mahābalāḥ ||
At mula sa lupaing iyon, huwag kayong kukuha kahit kaunting bunga, O mga plavaṅgama; sapagkat ang mga bayaning iyon ay mahirap lapitan—matatapang at dakila ang lakas.
'You should not pluck any fruits from those woods, for courageous gandharvas protect the fruits of the trees. It is difficult to go there, for those heroes have frightening bravery.
Dharma discourages taking what is not permitted: even small acts of appropriation can derail a righteous mission and provoke conflict.
Sugriva instructs the searchers not to pluck fruits in a guarded Gandharva territory while proceeding westward.
Integrity and restraint—maintaining right conduct even during hardship and travel.
