Ayomukhi Encounter and the ظهور of Kabandha
अथ तौ समभिक्रम्य क्रोशमात्रे ददर्शतुः।।3.69.33।।महान्तं दारुणं भीमं कबन्धं भुजसंवृम्।कबन्धमिव संस्थानादतिघोरप्रदर्शनम्।।3.69.34।।
atha tau samabhikramya krośa-mātre dadarśatuḥ ||3.69.33||
mahāntaṁ dāruṇaṁ bhīmaṁ kabandhaṁ bhuja-saṁvṛtam |
kabandham iva saṁsthānād ati-ghora-pradarśanam ||3.69.34||
Pagkaraang sumulong sila nang may isang krośa, nakita ng dalawa si Kabandha—napakalaki, malupit at nakatatakot, anyong tila punong walang ulo; ang kaniyang mga bisig ay pumapalibot sa paligid, at lubhang kakila-kilabot ang anyo.
Then the brothers after covering one krosa (2 miles) saw a cruel, fierce, mighty monster named Kabandha looking like a trunk. He had a dreadful appearance and his arms encircled the area.
Repetition in narration reinforces moral clarity: the reality of adharma is not minimized; it is identified firmly so that righteous response is justified.
