O Rama! king Dasaratha begot you by doing a great penance and performing great deeds, just as gods begot the nectar.
Dharma includes responsibility toward family and kingdom: Rama is reminded that his separation already caused immense consequence; he must now act with steadiness for the greater good.
Lakshmana references Bharata’s report that Dasharatha died (attained heaven) due to grief from Rama’s absence.
Rama’s guṇas (virtues) that inspire devotion—so powerful that their absence becomes unbearable to loved ones.
