Rāma’s Lament in Separation from Sītā
By Sita's abduction it will be clear to the world that I lack manliness and compassion. My cowardly nature will clearly manifest.
It underscores the dharma of marital unity and accountability: Rāma sees returning without Sītā not merely as personal loss but as a moral impossibility—an unfulfilled duty.
After Sītā’s abduction, Rāma imagines the future shame and emptiness of returning to royal life without her.
Fidelity and responsibility—Rāma’s refusal to normalize life or kingship while Sītā is missing.
