It prescribes a three-night fast (trirātra-upoṣa) followed by ritual bathing (snāna), and then bathing at the sacred site called Deva-hrada associated with the Kṛṣṇa-veṇā waters.
It denotes a standard Purāṇic measure of religious merit: the fruit of the act is said to equal the merit of donating a thousand cows, emphasizing the sanctity of the fast-and-bath observance.
The verse teaches disciplined austerity (fasting) and purification (bathing) linked with reverence for tīrthas, presenting sacred geography as a means to cultivate devotion and dharmic conduct.
