Śrī Bhagavān (Hṛṣīkeśa/Viṣṇu)

Concept: Vishnu is simultaneously progenitor, father, and guru; life-span is His gift—therefore the proper response is to approach Him in surrender rather than stand apart in pride or fear.

Application: Cultivate daily ‘approach’ through nāma-japa, prayer, and seeking guidance; treat life as entrusted service (seva) rather than self-owned possession.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Vishnu as Hṛṣīkeśa stands close, not distant—his expression tender, eyes compassionate, one hand raised in assurance while the other gestures invitingly. Before him, Mārkaṇḍeya’s anger softens into awe, his posture shifting from defiance to receptive humility as the gift of life-span is acknowledged.","primary_figures":["Hṛṣīkeśa (Vishnu)","Mārkaṇḍeya"],"setting":"A serene hermitage that subtly transforms into a divine space—lotus motifs in the air, a faint cosmic ocean shimmer behind the trees.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance, calm and enveloping","color_palette":["peacock blue","lotus pink","soft white","emerald green","gold leaf"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Vishnu as Hṛṣīkeśa with lavish gold-leaf halo, ornate crown, śaṅkha-cakra visible, right hand in abhaya and left inviting; Mārkaṇḍeya kneeling with folded hands; rich crimson and emerald background, embossed gold lotus patterns, gem-studded ornaments, temple-arch framing.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate teacher-student moment—Vishnu gently leaning forward, the sage listening; cool mountain palette with peacock-blue garments, delicate lotus blossoms, refined faces, soft atmospheric perspective and lyrical trees.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: Vishnu’s large stylized eyes and bright yellow halo dominate; the sage rendered with humble posture; bold outlines, natural pigments, red/yellow/green palette, temple-wall aesthetic with lotus borders and conch-chakra emblems.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Vishnu-centered devotional tableau with lotus and floral borders; the sage at Vishnu’s feet; deep blue background with gold highlights, peacocks and cows as auspicious witnesses, intricate lotus medallions suggesting ‘padma’ origin and divine intimacy."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Yaman","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["soft temple bells","conch shell distant","gentle flowing water","sustained silence between phrases"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: श्रीभगवानुवाच = श्रीभगवान् + उवाच; नोपसर्पसि = न + उपसर्पसि।

FAQs

It presents the Lord as progenitor, father, and guru—implying both intimate care and rightful spiritual authority—urging the devotee to draw near in surrender.

The key instruction is “approach Me” (upasarpasi): devotion is not merely belief but active turning toward the Lord through reverence, prayer, and reliance.

Gratitude and humility: since life and guidance come from the divine source, one should not remain distant through pride, neglect, or doubt, but seek refuge and instruction.
