हि आय न (0) ऑन अप अष्टात्रिशो&् ध्याय: उत्तरकुमारका भय और अर्जुनका उसे आश्वासन देकर रथपर चढ़ाना वैशम्पायन उवाच स राजधान्या निर्याय वैराटिरकुतो भय: । प्रयाहीत्यब्रवीत्‌ सूतं यत्र ते कुरवो गता:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! राजधानीसे निकलकर विराटकुमार उत्तरने सर्वथा निर्भय हो सारथिसे कहा--“बृहन्नले! जहाँ कौरव गये हैं, उधर ही रथ ले चलो

Vaiśampāyana uvāca | sa rājadhānyā niryāya Vairāṭir akuto-bhayaḥ | prayāhīty abravīt sūtaṃ yatra te Kuravo gatāḥ ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Nang magkagayon, ang prinsipe ng Virāṭa, pagkalabas sa kabisera at tuluyang naging walang takot, ay nagsalita sa tagapagmaneho: “Sumulong ka, O tagapagmaneho; doon mo dalhin ang karwahe sa mismong direksiyong pinuntahan ng mga Kaurava.” Sa daloy ng salaysay, ito ang tanda ng paninindigan ni Uttara matapos mapanatag—ang takot ay naging pagkilos na nakaugat sa tungkulin sa harap ng nalalapit na sagupaan.
