Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 21 — Kīcaka’s clandestine approach and Bhīma’s covert intervention (नर्तनागारे कीचकवध-प्रसङ्गः)
लोपामुद्रा तथा भीरु वयोरूपसमन्विता । अगस्तिमन्वयाद्धित्वा कामान् सर्वानमानुषान्,भीरु! नयी अवस्था और अनुपम रूप-सौन्दर्यसे सम्पन्न राजकुमारी लोपामुद्राने सम्पूर्ण अलौकिक सुख-भोगोंपर लात मारकर अपने पति महर्षि अगस्त्यका ही अनुसरण किया था
Lopāmudrā tathā bhīru vayorūpasamanvitā | Agastim anvayād dhitvā kāmān sarvān amānuṣān ||
Wika ni Bhima: “Gayon din si Lopamudra, ang mahinahong babae na pinagkalooban ng kabataan at kagandahang walang kapantay. Itinakwil niya ang lahat ng pambihira at tila-makalangit na kaluguran, at pinili niyang sundan ang kanyang asawa lamang—ang dakilang pantas na si Agastya.”
भीमसेन उवाच
The verse upholds steadfast marital fidelity and dharmic commitment: even when endowed with youth, beauty, and access to exceptional pleasures, Lopāmudrā chooses principled devotion—following her husband Agastya—over indulgence.
Bhīma cites Lopāmudrā as an illustrative example while speaking: she abandons extraordinary enjoyments and aligns her life with the austere path of her husband, the sage Agastya, demonstrating a model of ethical resolve and devotion.
